  • AAUW-Walla Walla is accepting grant applications for its 2026 Community Project Grants from nonprofit leaders in Walla Walla County and Milton-Freewater+ Funding is available up to $5,000 to support projects advancing equity, education and opportunity; applications are due by 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 15.  Union-Bulletin

CULTURE NEWS

  • Joe Drazan’s Bygone Walla Walla project shares archival images showing how jackrabbit drives affected crops in western Walla Walla County from the early 1900s to 1930. The nonprofit invites local residents to submit old snapshots — a call for preserving history — to add to the growing visual record.  Union-Bulletin

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Port of Walla Walla signed an agreement with Tri-Cities ports and the Northwest Seaport Alliance last Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Public Ports Association office in Olympia to create an Inland Logistics Hub that will ease transportation and boost jobs in warehousing and truck driving in southeast Washington.  Union-Bulletin

  • Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Preston Gannaway will deliver the 2026 Hosokawa Journalism Lecture at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Whitman College’s Reid Campus Center (Young Ballroom). She will discuss her long-form project 'Remember Me' on time and loss.  Union-Bulletin

  • Walla Walla High School honored its 1984 girls state basketball champions on Saturday, Feb. 7 by unveiling a new trophy during halftime of the varsity boys game. Former players—along with coach Marda McClenny—recalled the historic win as the trophy was added to the school display case.  Union-Bulletin
