- ➤ Pacific Power is selling its Washington utility operations, affecting nearly 140,000 customers in Yakima and Walla Walla, to Portland General Electric (PGE) for $1.9 billion, with regulatory approval expected to take 12 months and current rates and staffing remaining unchanged. Union-Bulletin

- ➤ At Waitsburg Town Hall on Saturday, Feb. 21, Alexis Jones was crowned Waitsburg Celebration Days Queen during a coronation that introduced a new royalty court and raised about $6,000 (supporting upcoming local parades and rodeos). Waitsburg Times
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ CTUIR is restoring 450 acres along the Touchet River, with active excavation on a mile of floodplain for three months and plans to repurpose wood on two additional miles starting in summer to create fish-friendly blockages. The project (improving salmon habitat) is funded by state and federal agencies. Union-Bulletin
