EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Waitsburg School Board has selected Monty Sabin as the district's new Superintendent and Elementary Principal pending contract negotiations—Sabin brings 26 years of administrative experience including his term as superintendent at Moses Lake until June 2024. Waitsburg Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Washington State Department of Health said residents should get a flu shot as high flu activity continues with 296 reported deaths marking the worst flu season in seven years. The department added that it is safe to receive the vaccine at the same time as another vaccine (it is recommended for everyone 6 months and older and for those at higher risk). KONA
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ The former city hall sale fell through on March 12 when Walla Walla residents Delbert and Cindy Steinhorst pulled out because a connected lot showed signs of a long-unused dump site—this area was used as a dump from the 1930s to the 1960s. The city later accepted a $130,000 bid from local resident David Seidl on March 19—his plan calls for apartments upstairs and a public workspace on the ground floor, with a feasibility period ending March 31 and a closing date of April 4.
