COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Salvation Army Hope Market food pantry in Walla Walla received 1,500 pounds of frozen pork roast donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Blue Mountain Action Council delivered the food from Spokane (54 cases) to help provide meals for families facing food insecurity.  Union-Bulletin

CULTURE NEWS

  • CoWalla Creative District in College Place and Walla Walla is asking local creatives to submit a logo design by Tuesday, April 29 that captures the area’s art and community spirit. The contest is open to amateurs and professionals and offers a $500 prize with public recognition, and the winner will be announced the week of May 26—making the design the new symbol for the district.  Union-Bulletin

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On March 31, businesses and vendors who handle alcohol and cannabis will need to create new accounts on LCB’s updated portal powered by Salesforce. Between March 27 and March 31, certain services — licensing customer service and special permits — will be temporarily unavailable as the system streamlines outdated steps.  KONA
  • Walla Walla is hosting a virtual open house through Friday, April 4 to explain its plan to rebuild Pine Street from Second Avenue to Cayuse Street in fall to fix failing pavement and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists—the project will add a compact roundabout at Ninth Avenue and Pine Street and upgrade water and sewer lines with construction set to continue until 2026.  Union-Bulletin

HEALTH NEWS

  • Since summer 2024, Comprehensive Healthcare’s Youth Mobile Outreach program has helped local families in crisis with an eight-week service that addresses mental health, substance use, and behavioral challenges. The five-member team accepts referrals from the 988 hotline, local schools, and primary care—ensuring families get the support they need.  Union-Bulletin
  • Woolite is recalling its 50-fluid-ounce Woolite Delicates detergent in Washington because it may contain Pseudomonas bacteria that can cause infection in people with weak immune systems; consumers with products bearing lot codes S24364, S24365 and S24366 should stop using them and follow Reckitt’s refund instructions from the recall that took effect on March 20th.  KONA
