- ➤ Kohl's will close 27 stores across 15 states on March 29 but no locations in Washington will close, leaving 21 stores open for shoppers. The company's CEO said the move is part of a strategy to support long-term growth and maintain a healthy business. KONA
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Deputies made a traffic stop in Finley near SR 397 and Bowles Road where they recognized a 19-year-old with multiple warrants; when officers advised him of his arrest, he jumped on top of a female driver and fled on foot after a pistol was found in the car—authorities say there is probable cause for charges including Attempting to Elude, Kidnapping, and Unlawful Possession of Firearms. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rick Eskil, a longtime journalist and City Council member (first elected in 2021), announced his run for reelection on March 26th to represent Walla Walla’s south ward. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The local health care system is under strain as projections show Washington will face a 22% nursing shortage by 2037, with many qualified candidates turned away and experienced nurses retiring.
