- ➤ Owner Brad Binko moved Eternal Wines & Drink Washington State tasting room to a new space at 85514 Highway 11 in Milton-Freewater and it began serving guests in early March during 2025 Locals' Weekend. The venue fits over 40 people and will host events like concerts & trivia nights while planning to add a small vineyard and food truck service. Union-Bulletin
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An 18-year-old man from Walla Walla was arrested Tuesday, April 1, on multiple felony charges including drive-by shooting and first-degree assault with a deadly weapon near Pikes Peak Road—where a victim was hospitalized after being struck in the face with a gun—and he faces arraignment on April 14 while held on a $250,000 bond. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Walla Walla University now offers an online MBA program where students can enroll in April, June, September or January. The program began in January and will add new specializations—business analytics, artificial intelligence, finance, health care administration and cyber security—this fall and features networking events with business leaders while it can be finished in one year. - ➤ Six Waitsburg students returned from competing in the Global Amazing Shake at Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta where they joined over 400 students in a three-day contest that stressed good manners, discipline and respect. They visited sites like the Coca-Cola Museum and Martin Luther King Memorial — their trip built lasting friendships and broadened their cultural learning. Waitsburg Times
- ➤ Walla Walla Community College will offer eight free college prep workshops entirely in Spanish for students and families from April 24 through June 12 at the Valle Lindo community room, 279 Farmland Road—dinner and child care will be provided. The sessions will cover topics such as orientation, high school, college applications, paying for college and choosing a school while being led by WWCC Director of Outreach Melissa Rodriguez and a community advocate. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Walla Walla City Council approved a development agreement for the Mill District—an urban planned community east of Myra Road that will include two housing developments named Equinox and Pinnacle, commercial businesses and a private park along Mill Creek. The plan, agreed with Konen Properties LLC on March 26, sets guidelines for developing the 42.7-acre site. Union-Bulletin
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Hearthside Food Solutions is recalling nearly 490,000 pounds of Letteri’s breakfast sandwiches in Washington State for misbranding and an undeclared allergen—products were made from April 1, 2023 to March 25 and come with a 12-month shelf life. No adverse reactions have been reported and consumers are advised to check their freezers and seek medical help if needed. KONA
