- ➤ Camp Fire Walla Walla will host a Spring for Camp Fire luncheon fundraiser on April 25 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Walla Walla Country Club; tickets cost $50 per person and $400 per table of four to support youth programs. Union-Bulletin

- ➤ Baker Boyer Bank is investigating suspicious activity after multiple ATMs were vandalized and cash was taken; the bank has taken its ATMs offline—working with local law enforcement and the FBI while offering customers online banking and fee reversals. Union-Bulletin

- ➤ Stephanie Helleckson is named the new CEO and executive director of the Walla Walla Symphony and will start on May 12 replacing Leah Wilson-Velasco. She brings experience as a choir director and arts program manager in Colorado and plans to build local partnerships with community colleges and the public library (including Walla Walla Community College). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Walla Walla Community College will offer eight free workshops for Spanish speaking families to learn the steps to college. The Family Academy sessions run every Thursday from April 24 until June 12 from 6—8 p.m. at Valle Lindo Community Room on Farmland Road 279 and include dinner and child care as part of a partnership with Elevate of United Way and local school districts. - ➤ The Washington Legislature passed Senate Bill 5480, a law that would stop medical debt from being reported on credit reports if Gov. Ferguson signs it and will take effect this summer—critics warn it might lead to higher costs—while supporters say it could help more people secure housing. KONA
- ➤ Walla Walla County is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Board of Equalization that reviews property value appeals.
