CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Law enforcement is investigating vandalism and theft at three Baker Boyer Bank ATMs in Walla Walla and Milton-Freewater over April 5 and 6 — the FBI has taken over the probe — while Bank President Mark Kajita said customers can use online banking and fee-free non-Baker Boyer ATMs until the machines may resume service by Friday, April 25. - ➤ Jess Portas is transitioning The Refinery into a nonprofit to launch three new programs that invite local residents to explore art and healing. - ➤ A study by Seniorly ranked Washington the best state for older workers because it has no personal income tax and strong business growth—an 88.6% increase in new businesses last year. The research noted that seniors now earn high incomes and make up about 22.4% of the workforce. KONA

- ➤ City crews in Walla Walla began installing erosion control fencing near Highland Road—marking the start of the Myra Road South Extension project. Excavation will begin the week of April 21—and Highland Road will close at the new intersection on April 28 as crews extend the road to Taumarson Road and add a roundabout at SR 125. Union-Bulletin
- ➤ City leaders said Walla Walla will add a Climate Resilience Element to its Comprehensive Plan as part of the 2026 update and are asking residents to complete a survey in English or Spanish by April 30 to share their experiences with climate hazards. Union-Bulletin
