  • At Banner Bank, Ben Marson and Kylie Flowers received the Banner’s Best Award for exceptional performance, while the Walla Walla Alliance for the Homeless received a $3,000 grant from WaFD Bank to support over 60 individuals daily. Key Technology and PPM announced a new fully integrated nut processing line to be showcased at the INC World Nut and Dried Food Congress on May 8-10 in Palma de Mallorca — and Gesa Power House Theatre now offers a $15 ticket discount to first responders, firefighters, health care workers, teachers and veterans.  Union-Bulletin

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross will hold blood drives in Walla Walla on April 22 at Providence St. Mary Medical Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on April 23 at Foundry Vineyards from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on May 2 at the YMCA and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; donors through April 30 will receive a t-shirt and a chance to win $5,000—donors from May 1 to May 18 will get a $20 gift card and a chance to win a U.S. trip for two.  Union-Bulletin
  • More than 100 patients joined lawsuits against Providence Health & Services, saying unnecessary surgeries by former neurosurgeons hurt them; Spokane attorney Bill Gilbert filed cases in Walla Walla and Eastern District courts—seeking to have Providence take responsibility after a $22.7 million settlement three years ago. The lawsuits claim that payment methods led to extra surgeries that injured patients.  Union-Bulletin
