🚨 Crime
Nathanael Young, 44, pleaded guilty to two Class-B felony drug charges and one theft charge at the College Place Walmart and will serve one year of community supervision while paying $36,738 in restitution—charges against Mistie Cooper were dismissed due to search warrant issues.
On April 12, a Washington State Patrol trooper forced a suspected drunken driver off U.S. 12 near Lower Waitsburg Road using his patrol car - no one was injured but the maneuver is under a deadly force investigation by a multi-agency unit and the suspect was arrested for driving under the influence and reckless endangerment.

Weller Public Library in Waitsburg might lose two grants—one for a teen summer internship and another for a tabletop role-playing games program—after a federal executive order canceled funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
The library may soon rely on local support as it works to maintain its programs amid looming state budget cuts.
