  • Frog Hollow Farm is hosting its 12th annual plant sale on May 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 174 Frog Hollow Road—offering organic and heirloom plants, food trucks and a meet-and-greet with baby farm animals along with a performance by The Welter Brothers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Union-Bulletin

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Oxarc leased 4.75 acres at Burbank Industrial Park to store and distribute industrial gases such as CO2 via rail—following port approval on May 1 for a five-year term that may be extended. The deal is expected to add $2,500 monthly to port revenue and create six initial full-time jobs without affecting nearby roadway projects.  Union-Bulletin

CRIME NEWS

  • On May 1, Daniel Junior Pascual, 31, was brought to court after a new alleged rape victim came forward, adding two charges to his existing counts in Walla Walla and King Counties—while his attorney argued that his sudden arrest was unnecessary given his record of attending court dates.  Union-Bulletin

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fort Walla Walla Museum Executive Director James Payne was honored with the Washington State Historical Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his 30 years of work preserving Washington history—his leadership has expanded the museum’s programs and modernized its facilities.  Union-Bulletin
  • Today, First Friday Art Tours start at venues in Walla Walla, College Place and Waitsburg and run each first weekend from May to September. An art show at Combine Art Collective on 130 E. Rose St. No. 102 features works by Helen Harvey, Samuel Drake, Marriam Motamedi and Ellen Heath and will have an opening reception from 4 to 6 p.m.—giving local art fans a chance to see new works.  Union-Bulletin

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Valley Transit returned three of its five new electric buses to BYD/RYDE after inspectors found defects + the manufacturer paid for repairs and transport costs. General Manager Angie Peters said these buses will be ready for service by the end of June while all five will run by the end of the year.  Union-Bulletin
