- ➤ Lottery players in Washington leave millions in unclaimed prizes by missing the 180-day claim period, with examples including a $3.4 million Powerball ticket from Tacoma and a $1.4 million Mega Millions ticket from Spokane. Unclaimed funds go to the state's Opportunity Pathways Account (supporting education, vocational programs and early childhood learning). KONA

- ➤ A Waitsburg man, Bryan Thornhill, offered $10,000 for the city's 6th Street Site, a 1.15-acre parcel that abuts his property and was once a dumping ground; his bid will become official when it is presented to the City Council. Union-Bulletin
- ➤ Nadine Stecklein (37), a local higher education professional and business owner, filed on May 5 to run for Position 3 on College Place City Council and plans to boost economic development, expand after-school recreation and secure grants for road and pedestrian improvements if elected.
