Communities in Schools of the Blue Mountain Region will host its Bingo & Brews fundraiser at Burwood Brewing at 1120 E St. in Walla Walla on Sunday, May 18—doors open at 3:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 4 p.m.; only 75 tickets will be available, with proceeds supporting student services.
Joe Forest, owner of Tempus Cellars, was approved by the Port of Walla Walla on May 8 to rent a 3,000 square foot facility at 760 C St. where he will continue making wine and hosting tastings until the lease ends in 2037—replacing former operator Steve Brooks.
The Washington Society of Mayflower Descendants will hold a settlement meeting tomorrow at noon at the Fort Walla Walla Park Rotary shelter on Myra Road to discuss local ties to the Mayflower and share resources for understanding this heritage—attendees may bring a brown bag lunch and contact Robert Keatts for an estimated headcount without needing membership.
Emily Arteche joined the Development Services Department as deputy director on April 22—bringing 25 years of municipal planning experience from Snoqualmie and other cities—and she will manage the building division, planning commissions and code enforcement while guiding the policy process and 2026 Comprehensive Plan update.
