- ➤ Walla Walla Public Schools officials say a state budget shortfall and a cap on special education funds may force the district to cut support for key programs like special education, transportation and operating costs. They explained that while the next two years offer $309.6 million for special education, rising expenses and a $4.4 million gap mean staff and services could be reduced—raising worries about keeping schools running well.
