CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An 81-year-old Walla Walla man on pre-trial release for assaulting a firefighter in January was arrested May 18 after shoving a police officer at Providence St. Mary Medical Center—he faces charges of third-degree assault, harassment with threats to kill, and interference with a health care facility—and his arraignment is set for June 2. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Bob Ferguson signed a $10 billion tax increase package on May 20 that raises business, excise and sales taxes over four years. Local business leaders warned that the new taxes could lead to job cuts and prompt some companies to relocate. KONA
