  • Former Walla Wallan Deborah Underwood transformed a barren lot during the 2020 pandemic into a thriving garden that inspired her upcoming picture book, Tiny Garden, with illustrations by Jax Chow.   • The Walla Walla & Columbia County Retirees Association awarded $2,000 scholarships at a May luncheon to Brooklyn Laughery, a Dayton alum now at Washington State University set to student teach at Dayton Elementary, and Aloisa Morales-Saldana, a recent Walla Walla High grad at Whitworth who will begin her classroom internship.  Union-Bulletin

  • The Walla Walla Public Library renovation moves forward after the city awarded Banlin Construction nearly $10.4M and approved a $3M loan from the vehicle equipment fund; construction begins mid-June and runs until July 2027, and fundraising has reached over $12.5M toward a $16M goal.  Union-Bulletin
