CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two suspects—a 27-year-old man and a juvenile—were arrested over the weekend after separate shootings on May 30 in Walla Walla, with one incident leaving a juvenile with a leg wound and police continuing their investigation. Union-Bulletin
- ➤ On Saturday, authorities arrested Eduardo Chavez-Contreras—accused of assault, drive-by shooting and unlawful firearm possession—and another teen at a Plaza Way home after investigating a Friday night incident when a bicyclist was shot near Chase Avenue and Myrtle Street followed by a later incident where a teen was shot near South Division and Hobson Streets and taken to a hospital where he is expected to be okay. - ➤ The Walla Walla Public Library will hold two open houses on June 4—one from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and one from 5:30 to 7 p.m.—to display carpet tiles, paint samples and landscape plans as part of its $16 million renovation project. The upgrade will include a full interior renovation and expansion with about $6 million to be raised through community donations by March 2026. Union-Bulletin
