- ➤ Waitsburg Parks & Recreation held a three-day Skateboard Camp at The Slab next to Simply Sawdust where eight beginner skaters learned safety rules and riding basics from coaches John Langford, Austin Casey, and Grant Godard. The camp follows last year’s cheer camp and will be followed by a Volleyball camp from July 14 to 16 as part of six new summer programs. Waitsburg Times

- ➤ Juan J. Rodriguez Meza, 18, pleaded guilty on July 9 to aiming & firing a firearm in College Place after he shot at a man in a vehicle on July 6, leading to dismissal of his felony charges while his sentencing is set for July 21. Union-Bulletin

- ➤ The Dayton library has loaned portable internet devices to help rural residents get online—originally using 11 Verizon hotspots funded by the Emergency Connectivity Fund and now using 13 new T-Mobile devices purchased from the library’s own budget. - ➤ The WSU Expansion Office in Walla Walla is accepting applications for its 2025/26 Master Gardener Program, which runs from October 2025 to March 2026—training includes virtual, classroom and field instruction in home gardening, pest management and plant science. The fee is $275 with a $30 materials charge, and all applicants must be 18 or older and live in Walla Walla County; the application deadline is 5 p.m. on August 15. Waitsburg Times
