Columbia County Health System (CCHS) was awarded the Gold‐level Quality Excellence Award at the WSHA Rural Hospital Leadership Conference in Chelan on June 28 for improving patient safety and care across Dayton, Waitsburg, and Starbuck.

Waitsburg High School replaced coach Westin Wallace with coach Chris Andrews, who ensured eight players attended a summer basketball camp in Ilwaco from June 29 to July 2 with funds raised + Waitsburg Lions Club donation.
The players competed strongly against deeper varsity teams.
