Columbia County is looking for a consultant to study how climate change will affect the area and to help Dayton and Starbuck update their comprehensive plans by June 30.
The consultant will set up public meetings and create materials while the RFQ deadline is Aug. 8—$300,000 for the county and $100,000 each for Dayton and Starbuck support this work.
Walla Walla County primary ballots will be mailed Friday, July 18 and let voters decide on Proposition No. 1, a 911 sales tax to fund three new dispatchers and updated radio equipment, plus a Waitsburg mayoral race featuring candidates Jim Strawn, Brad Sandau and incumbent Marty Dunn. Ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5 while Columbia County will have no primary.
