The Columbia Walla Walla Fire District #2 in Waitsburg is recruiting volunteers for firefighting and EMS and will offer training, equipment and fall EMT classes.

Chief Matt Spring said the new team will help with fire responses, medical calls and station tasks to keep the community safe.

Common Roots Housing Trust has broken ground on Fern Avenue Cottage Homes in Walla Walla, planning occupancy by the end of 2026 or early 2027.
