Columbia County Sheriff's Office has issued Level 2 evacuation notices for residents along South Touchet Road near Dayton because the Harting Grade Fire burned about 200 acres — prompting a shutdown of South 4th Street to all but fire personnel and property owners.

The fire was first reported at 4:30 p.m. Friday and remains 0% contained.

Planned Parenthood clinics in Walla Walla will continue operating if federal Medicaid cuts take effect because the state will cover any lost funds — Gov. Ferguson said the state redirected money from the Health Care Authority to support clinics amid the challenges of the Big Beautiful Bill Act.
