- ➤ Walla Walla County paid $52,000 to settle an Open Public Meetings Act lawsuit over two letters sent in 2021 in response to COVID-19 directives after a judge dismissed the case on July 1— a draft resolution to nullify the letters was on the Board’s agenda on Aug 4 and must be approved within 45 days of the dismissal. - ➤ Jim Strawn has unofficially withdrawn from the Waitsburg mayor race for today's primary election because his notice reached Walla Walla County a day too late — he now seeks a seat on the town Planning Commission while incumbent Marty Dunn and challenger Brad Sandau will face voters in the general election on November 4.
