- ➤ This weekend, Amavi Cellars holds a school supply wine tasting daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 3796 Peppers Bridge Road to help get school items, and Dunham Cellars hosts its 16th annual Dunham Days with live music and food trucks from Aug. 15 to Aug. 17 to benefit suicide prevention—while Wheatstock in Helix features a music festival with live music, food trucks and a beer garden on Aug. 15 and Aug. 16 to support veterans. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A rolled log truck closed US 12 in both directions about 3 miles south of Waitsburg at 12:40 p.m. on August 12 with no serious injuries reported — the Sheriff’s Office advised drivers to use an alternate route until local teams cleared the road. Union-Bulletin

- ➤ On Aug. 6, six small fires erupted in Walla Walla County within about 10 minutes—officials suspect arson as one fire reached a residential yard while all were quickly extinguished with no injuries. Union-Bulletin
- ➤ Walla Walla police arrested a man on August 11 at 12:16 p.m. on charges of domestic violence assault (he also faces burglary and unlawful imprisonment) after he broke into an Eagan Street apartment and attacked a woman for a prolonged period. Apple Valley News Now
