- ➤ The Walla Walla Alliance for the Homeless has expanded its Sleep Center shelter this August by adding nine new huts to boost capacity to about 70 people per night and by building a new laundry facility, bathroom, quarantine shelter and pet area—efforts that meet growing needs. - ➤ A 42-year-old Walla Walla man pleaded guilty to two felonies and five gross misdemeanors for harassment and stalking — he used multiple email addresses to cyberharass a victim and took pictures during a protection order — and he received a suspended jail sentence with probation while protection orders remain in place. - ➤ Port of Columbia commissioner Johnny Watts said he doubts the sale of the 37-mile railroad between Dayton and Walla Walla because the offer of $305,000–$705,000 falls far short of its $13.7 million appraised value. - ➤ Trilogy Recovery Community in Walla Walla has been licensed by the Washington State Department of Health as a Behavioral Health Agency and will now offer substance use disorder treatment, assessments and clinical care—expanding its services to meet urgent local health needs.
