On Aug. 27, the Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days opened with food vendors, animal showcases, craft displays and a CPR booth where EMS volunteers taught life-saving techniques—six dummies were available for practice.
The fair also featured barn exhibits, including a fourth grader showcasing a 260-pound pig and a 9-year-old preparing to present her steer.
Registration for the 2025 Valley Giving Guide opens on Monday, Sept.
15 and closes on Wednesday, Oct. 15 for nonprofits in Walla Walla, Columbia, Garfield and Umatilla counties—donors will support local charities when the event returns on Tuesday, Dec. 2 with matching funds and prizes through sponsorships.

Two men with deep roots in Eastern Washington have launched a grassroots mission to bring an innovative vest that helps cystic fibrosis patients worldwide.
The mission will expand its reach to offer improved care to more people in need.
