- ➤ Franklin County firefighters responded to nine fires on September 8 after a thunderstorm sparked multiple grass fires in Franklin and Walla Walla Counties—two in Franklin and seven in Walla Walla. Apple Valley News Now
- ➤ Firefighters are containing the Wooden Road Fire, a grass fire that started Monday night near Prescott and has burned about 4,000 acres near the Snake River—level one Get Ready evacuation notices are in effect for residents who must be ready to evacuate if needed. Apple Valley News Now

- ➤ College Place police are searching for a 65-year-old man wanted on assault charges from Idaho after his spouse said she was afraid to ride with him—officers found ammunition and a firearm in his car, and he remains at large. Apple Valley News Now
- ➤ The Walla Walla SWAT team assisted Umatilla County officials in arresting 41-year-old Sopha Khathavong who allegedly shot a gun at an occupied house near Milton-Freewater on Aug. 31 — he now faces charges for unlawful use of a weapon, recklessly endangering others, and interfering with a peace officer with bail set at $50,000.
