- ➤ Photographer Juniper Kerr joined The Times and her first assignment was to capture this summer's harvest in Waitsburg—she photographed crews at the Turner elevator and local farms, showing her lifelong passion for movement and light. She began taking pictures as a young child and now uses a Sony a7 IV to document community events. Waitsburg Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Whitman College will meet the full demonstrated financial need for all admitted students starting with the incoming class of 2026—27, officials said. The decision follows raising $81 million through its Upward Together campaign along with an additional $18 million allocated by the college to remove financial barriers. Union-Bulletin
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Walla Walla City Council approved a letter on September 10 that opposes the federal plan to end the 2001 Roadless Conservation Rule—Council members say the rule protects the Mill Creek Watershed and helps keep drinking water safe. Union-Bulletin
