Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 22nd of September.
Good morning, Walla Walla.
🎭 Culture
Fort Walla Walla Museum named Groover Snell as its new executive director in early September after James Payne retired after 30 years.
Snell, who began at the museum as an intern, aims to boost visitor numbers by offering new exhibits + interactive heritage classes.
🎓 Education
Washington voters will decide this November on Initiative 001 that would speed up how quickly schools give parents records from 45 days to 10 business days, though Governor Bob Ferguson says the change could weaken parental protections (a dispute over when crime reports trigger notifications divides parents and educators).
🏥 Health
According to federal policy under H.R.
1 (a work requirement rule), Medicaid requires able-bodied adults to work unless they prove medical frailty, which excludes those in recovery for five years. At Blue Mountain Heart to Heart, about 85 patients may lose coverage by January if they do not qualify.
