- ➤ The Tri-State Walla Walla 2025 Veterans Stand Down and Resource Fair will run from 3–7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 at the Walla Walla Community College main building at 500 Tausick Way. Pre-registration is recommended by Oct. 1 to receive an extra raffle ticket as the free event offers a veterans dinner, music, VA benefits help, vaccinations, haircuts, and support for housing, employment, and mental health. - ➤ Blue Mountain Humane Society hosted a pet adoption event in Walla Walla on Sunday—24 pets found new homes with help from community partners. Apple Valley News Now
- ➤ Organizers Vicki Ostrander and Jerry Cummins are launching the Week Without Driving campaign to highlight transportation barriers in Walla Walla; the campaign will begin Monday, Sept 29 with a public outreach followed by a Walkabout on Sept 30 where officials and advocates assess sidewalks and transit access (using mobility aids for firsthand evaluation). ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A wildfire began north of Prescott near Badger Hollow Road and Smith Springs Road on Sept. 25 and burned at least 1,500 acres—county spokesperson Heather Lee said residents received Level 1 evacuation notices and that the acreage estimate may change soon. Union-Bulletin
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Washington drivers are expecting relief in gas prices by Thanksgiving as the shift to winter-blend fuel and resolving a pipeline outage boost supply—Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy said prices could drop another 30 to 50 cents after a 7-cent decrease last week. State taxes and green policies continue to keep costs high for motorists. KONA
