COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Washington Water Trust will host its third annual benefit screening of the Fly Fishing Film Tour at Gesa Power House Theatre in Walla Walla on October 23 — the event will show new movies, include a silent auction and gear raffle with items donated by local businesses. Proceeds will restore water to the Walla Walla River, Touchet River and Mill Creek.  Waitsburg Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Yesterday, Children’s Museum of Walla Walla opened its new Home Town Village play exhibits on the VA grounds at 77 Wainwright Drive, featuring a post office, bank, medical clinic, store, food truck and park to encourage interactive play among children—bringing the village to life for local families.  Union-Bulletin

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rodney Outlaw and Jeff Strickler are running for Walla Walla City Council’s central ward seat in Position 2, each seeking their first elected office—Outlaw leads in fundraising with $19,822 compared to Strickler's $12,800 while both highlight plans for economic growth, affordable housing, and job creation. Their responses set the stage for a contest focused on attracting new industries and supporting community needs.  Union-Bulletin
  • The Port of Columbia is moving away from selling its 37-mile rail line and is negotiating a new lease with Columbia Rail to keep shipping between Dayton and Walla Walla running. The Port will honor the current lease until a new deal is in place and will hire a consultant to review finances—ensuring rail operations continue.  Union-Bulletin
