  • Bennington Lake’s Quail Trail now has new signs to help hikers locate themselves—allowing them to guide emergency services and follow trail rules. The signs, which include details on wildlife, hunting season and pet policies, are about 90% complete following an early September ribbon cutting.  Union-Bulletin
  • B Street between Boeing and Curtis streets near the airport will close on Saturday, Oct. 18 for the third annual Harvest Festival at the Airport, a free, family-friendly event running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and featuring tractor displays from Walla Walla Community College, vintage car and tractor shows, stagecoach rides, games like inflatable axe throwing and sack races, live music on the Mi Pueblito Stage, face and pumpkin painting, a petting zoo, tasting gardens, and food trucks + vendor booths.  Union-Bulletin

  • The Walla Walla Alliance for the Homeless is asking for donations of twin-sized sheets, ramen, hot chocolate, hot cider packets and canned goods dropped off at 1181 W. Rees Ave, while Ron LeFore Apple Farms has returned for the season to sell apples every Saturday morning in Milton-Freewater from 9 a.m. to noon. Ski Bluewood will hold a job fair at the Columbia County Fairgrounds in Dayton on Saturday, Oct. 18 from noon to 5 p.m. + these business notes show local efforts to support residents and boost seasonal opportunities.  Union-Bulletin
