- ➤ Small business owners in Washington saw their optimism drop 2 points in the recent NFIB report as high taxes and excess inventory weighed on their expectations. NFIB Washington is working with lawmakers to seek modest tax relief—critics worry that the state's largest tax hike may lead to higher prices for local families. KONA

- ➤ College Place High School has opened The Perch—a new center where students get help with college and career planning, including applications, scholarships and financial aid.
