- ➤ Karen Huwe, Pastor Heidi Lum, and the Town Hall Board will host a scam prevention meeting on November 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Waitsburg Town Hall to help seniors learn how to avoid scam attempts—local representatives from Banner Bank and the Walla Walla Sheriff's Office will speak. Waitsburg Times
- ➤ Dozens of local groups have launched the Walla Walla Valley Hunger Relief Coalition led by Blue Mountain Action Council to fight hunger if SNAP benefits are delayed on November 1 due to a federal shutdown — donations will buy food cards for over 4,000 households and support area grocery stores. The coalition will hold weekly meetings and announce food card distribution days soon. Waitsburg Times

- ➤ The Waitsburg School District will host a Veterans Program on Monday, November 10 at 1:30 p.m. at Waitsburg High School Gymnasium led by music teacher Elizabeth Jagelski—students from grades K to 12 will perform music, dance, speech and movement to honor local veterans, and the public is invited to attend. - ➤ Dr. Ben Gauyan spent his first 100 days as superintendent listening to staff, families, and community members while launching the district’s 'Be Kind, Be Civil, Belong' campaign — a new effort to build inclusion among students. He also formed a Hispanic Leaders Focus Group with nearly 50 community members to strengthen ties within the Hispanic community. Apple Valley News Now

- ➤ Gov. Bob Ferguson announced Tuesday that Washington will direct nearly $2.2 million per week to food banks starting Nov. 3—if a budget deal is not reached—to help nearly 930,000 SNAP-dependent residents face a benefit cutoff on Nov. 1 due to the ongoing shutdown. Union-Bulletin

- ➤ Whitman College and the University of Washington will host an event on Saturday, November 1st to help patients learn how to create recipient profiles for kidney transplants.
