  • The Chamber announced finalists for its annual Community Excellence Awards and invites local leaders to join the ceremony on Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. inside Baker Boyer Bank’s beautifully restored Main Street building to honor community contributions.  Union-Bulletin
  • Walla Walla Cares is accepting holiday gift donations for students in 13 schools in the Valley (including College Place and Milton-Freewater) until Friday, Dec. 12, and local sponsors and nonprofit partners will coordinate delivery.  Union-Bulletin

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The grocery store on Ninth Avenue is being remodeled into a Rosauers location with additions (smokehouse selling smoked meats, popcorn shop, salad bar, taco and burrito bar, snack kiosk and tortilla area) as construction continues while the store remains open and some changes may be ready by early spring.  Union-Bulletin

HEALTH NEWS

  • In September, 68-year-old Wonder began treatment for multiple myeloma at Walla Walla’s cancer center with pills, weekly infusions and 10 days of radiation. Doctors are monitoring her progress and may plan a stem cell transplant at Oregon Health and Science University to boost her quality of life.  Union-Bulletin
