Edison Elementary teacher Erika Helm saved a student from choking earlier this month using the Heimlich maneuver — earning her a Coin of Excellence from Superintendent Ben Gauyan at a recent staff meeting.

Walla Walla Community College has received over $75,000 from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to support armed forces members + their families in completing CDL certification.

Funds are available now and will run through Sept. 2028 for eligible students.
