Sixth-grader Evy Simon won the Reader’s Quest Winter Reading Contest on Saturday, Feb.

7 and helped create a custom ice cream flavor called Pride Time (a mix of chocolate, strawberry, marshmallow, and rainbow M&M’s) at Pine Cone Creamery; it will be available while supplies last.

Walla Walla Valley Disability Network received a $20,000 grant in February to offer free after-school programs for children under 13 — LIFT for ages 5 to 8 and RISE for ages 8 to 12 — with events held every other Monday and registration due the Sunday before each event.
