More than 100 patients joined lawsuits against Providence Health & Services, saying unnecessary surgeries by former neurosurgeons hurt them; Spokane attorney Bill Gilbert filed cases in Walla Walla and Eastern District courts—seeking to have Providence take responsibility after a $22.7 million settlement three years ago. The lawsuits claim that payment methods led to extra surgeries that injured patients.
