🚧 Accidents
Fire crews are battling a brush fire that started early on July 4 near South Fork Walla Walla River Road and has grown to about 40 acres southeast of Milton-Freewater — mutual aid was called from nearby departments.
The cause remains unknown as firefighters continue to work the blaze.
🎭 Culture
Several Walla Walla Valley wineries earned medals at the 2025 PNW Wine Competition held at Walla Walla Community College — Arenness Cellars won five double gold awards and newcomer Capital Call Vintners received two double gold and one gold, while 739 wines from 168 wineries were judged over three days.
🎓 Education
The Kids' Place has opened its second location at Walla Walla Community College—611 Water Center Drive, Building K—for 73 children, offering infant care to meet local demand.
The center also will host early childhood education students for practicum placements and field observations.
