Walla Walla County paid $52,000 to settle an Open Public Meetings Act lawsuit over two letters sent in 2021 in response to COVID-19 directives after a judge dismissed the case on July 1— a draft resolution to nullify the letters was on the Board’s agenda on Aug 4 and must be approved within 45 days of the dismissal.

Jim Strawn has unofficially withdrawn from the Waitsburg mayor race for today's primary election because his notice reached Walla Walla County a day too late — he now seeks a seat on the town Planning Commission while incumbent Marty Dunn and challenger Brad Sandau will face voters in the general election on November 4.
