- ➤ Work began on Sept 5 to convert a downtown building into a new grocery store and closed part of South Colville Street and nearby sidewalks. Permits show Natural Grocers — an organic store with grab-and-go meals — will use the 18,120 square foot site with a parking lot offering 36 spaces, including spots for bikes and EV charging. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Candidates for two board seats on the new Walla Walla North County Fire Authority will be able to file from 9 a.m. on Sept. 10 until 4 p.m. on Sept. 12 during a special filing period — all filing candidates automatically move to the general election for a six-year term. Union-Bulletin
